Dear Cllr Wells
Because of your total failure to address the concerns of those that elected you and to keep the promises that you made during the general election I find the need to write. I actually emailed you on the 15th October voicing my concerns as a concerned supporter of UKIP because I could see in which direction this was heading. As you have not had the common decency to reply to one of your constituents I felt the need to put this in the public domain.
For weeks I have heard the same sorry tale that UKIP were voted into TDC based on their ability to save Manston. While I agree that this is the biggest issue it is a small cog in a very large wheel. The basic problem with politics and has been the case for years is a matter of public trust in those we elect. In May you represented the solution to that problem along with Nigel Farage. After tonight’s circus at the council it is obvious we were wrong.
Over the course of the election campaign yourself and your party tapped into the strong feeling of public discontent that we all felt and promised us the earth (Manston included). As a result you won the Council. Manston is not the only thing you promised you would fix. In addition you quoted some rather ambitious time scales in which you would deal with things, again, more lies.
It is obvious after tonight you either had no intentions of honoring your election promises or circumstances since then have dictated otherwise. In any event you have been less than honest or transparent with those that elected you and tonight’s cabinet meeting is a prime example. I do suspect you already instructed your cabinet how they should vote.
It is now totally clear that you are in capable of keeping your word and as such you have clearly misrepresented your true intentions at time of election. In that case you were elected under false pretenses and should go promptly along with your cabinet and resign. I do suggest that your actions tonight will be solely responsible for the influence Nigel Farage will have on the country as a whole as all you have done is eroded the electorates trust in UKIP as a viable alternative and as such I withdraw my support for your party.
I do hope you have the common decency to respond to those that have been misled by this and I do encourage others that unwisely supported UKIP to think twice about what they do, that choice is theirs of course.
